Professional Teeth Whitening vs Over-the-Counter Products

In this video, Dr. Matthew Keider discusses the benefits of professional-grade teeth whitening treatments, emphasizing how they offer more effective and consistent results compared to over-the-counter options. Discover why custom trays with whitening gel are the best choice for achieving a brighter, more even smile, and schedule your free consultation today.

The bleaching materials that we, as dentists, have access to are prescription-strength and much more effective than what you can find over the counter. These professional-grade products can achieve better and more consistent results, often lightening the teeth more effectively.

While many patients ask about over-the-counter whitening strips, I’m not as fond of them compared to gel-based whitening treatments. One of the main reasons is that the whitening gel can more effectively reach between the teeth, ensuring a more even and thorough treatment. In contrast, strips often struggle to fit well between the teeth and can become sticky and difficult to remove after use. The gel, when used with custom trays, is easier to manage and clean off once the treatment is done.

For better and more reliable whitening results, I recommend using the professional gel in custom trays, which provides more control, comfort, and long-lasting effects.
