Do You Remove Wisdom Teeth?

In this video, Dr. Matthew Keider explains the wisdom tooth removal process, including sedation options for a comfortable experience. If you are considering wisdom tooth extraction, schedule a free consultation today to discuss the best approach for your needs.

In our office, I perform wisdom tooth removal for most patients. In rare cases, I may refer patients for extraction if I believe the procedure may be more complex or if the patient would prefer to avoid certain aspects of the experience, such as hearing sounds like tapping or cracking during the extraction.

For patients who prefer to be completely unaware during the procedure, I recommend IV sedation. With this option, you are put to sleep before the procedure begins and wake up in a recovery room once it is completed. This eliminates any discomfort or awareness of the process.

For most patients, however, wisdom tooth extractions can be performed comfortably in our office. If you experience anxiety, we offer nitrous oxide sedation, commonly known as laughing gas. This is administered through a small mask placed over your nose, helping you relax during the procedure. The effects wear off quickly, allowing you to drive yourself home afterward.

If you are considering wisdom tooth removal and have any concerns about sedation options, we are happy to discuss the best approach to ensure your comfort.
