Symptoms of gum disease are often mild, which is why it can go unnoticed in the early stages. One common sign is noticing blood in the sink while brushing your teeth or when spitting after rinsing your mouth. This is often one of the first indicators that something is not quite right with your gums.

Mouth odor is another sign of gum disease. If you find that you have persistent bad breath despite brushing and maintaining good oral hygiene, it may be caused by the buildup of bacteria below the gum line, which you cannot reach with regular brushing. This bacterial buildup can lead to unpleasant odor that lingers even after cleaning your teeth.

Redness along the gumline is another mild but important symptom. If your gums appear swollen or red, this could indicate inflammation caused by gum disease. Sensitivity in your gums, especially when eating certain foods, may also be a sign. The discomfort you feel as food touches your gums could be linked to inflammation or infection in the gum tissue.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to seek care. Please give us a call, and we’ll be happy to evaluate your oral health to determine if you have gum disease, periodontal disease, or pyorrhea. Early detection and treatment can help prevent further complications and ensure your gums remain healthy.
