Many patients ask me what a dental implant is. A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. It provides a stable foundation for tooth replacement, whether in the form of a fixed restoration, such as a crown or bridge, or a removable prosthesis, such as a denture.

Titanium is highly biocompatible, meaning it integrates well with the bone and is well tolerated by the body. This fusion process, known as osseointegration, allows the implant to function like a natural tooth root, providing durability and long-term stability.

If you are considering dental implants, I would be happy to evaluate your specific situation and discuss the best treatment options for your needs.
