Can I Get a Dental Implant at the Same Time as an Extraction?

In this video, Dr. Matthew Keider discusses the benefits of placing a dental implant at the time of tooth extraction to streamline the healing process and reduce treatment time. If you are considering a dental implant, schedule a free consultation today to explore your options and plan the best approach for your needs.

In many cases, when a tooth is extracted, it is possible to place a dental implant at the same time. I generally recommend considering this option because there will be a healing period regardless of whether an implant is placed immediately or not.

One of the best times to place an implant is at the time of extraction, as the implant can be positioned directly in the socket, allowing for a single healing period. If the tooth is extracted without immediate implant placement, healing must first occur before the implant can be placed, resulting in multiple healing phases—one for the extraction and another for the implant placement later on. While delayed placement is an option, it is important to understand that it extends the overall treatment timeline.
